Starting With NDIS: A Step-by-Step Guide for Families

Step 2: Make an Access Request


You can call the NDIS directly at 1800 800 110 or complete an Access Request Form online. This step is where you’ll provide basic details and consent to proceed.


Step 3: Provide Supporting Information


You’ll need to submit evidence of the disability. This includes medical reports, assessments, or letters from health professionals that outline the impact of the disability on daily life.


Tip: The more specific and recent the evidence, the better.


Step 4: Participate in a Planning Meeting


Once the NDIS accepts your application, you'll be invited to a planning meeting. This is where goals are discussed, and a plan is created. You can attend this with an NDIS planner or Local Area Coordinator (LAC).
